The arrests took place on 23 October, according to an AIB account published shortly after midnight on 26 October. Nine youths were detained at a school where police said motorcycle noise was disrupting lessons. The others were apprehended around 10 p.m. near Tuili market, about 12 kilometres from Kombissiri. Five of those detained were female.

Deputy central police commissioner Madi Ouédraogo said public complaints prompted the operation. Police accused some of those near the market of riding without helmets and performing stunts. The account did not specify fine amounts, the duration of the work imposed or whether the sanctions involved a court decision.
