Mauritania exported approximately 603,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas in the third quarter of 2026, up about 16% from the corresponding period in 2025, according to figures published by Madar at 22:39 GMT on 18 October. Madar attributed the data to the Energy Research Unit and specialist publication Attaqa. (fr.madar.mr)
Growth compared with 2025, softer quarterly performance
The reported increase was approximately 82,000 tonnes year on year. Exports nevertheless fell by more than 9% from the preceding quarter, while September recorded a small year-on-year decline of approximately 0.5%. These comparisons describe different trends: continued expansion from the project’s initial export period, but weaker recent quarterly volumes. (fr.madar.mr)
China was reported to have received approximately 152,000 tonnes, followed by Bangladesh at 135,000 tonnes, Italy at 122,000 tonnes and Egypt at 76,000 tonnes. Reported January–September exports totalled approximately 1.97 million tonnes. (fr.madar.mr)
Attribution and timing limitations
The cargoes were attributed to the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim development shared with Senegal. The underlying Attaqa article is dated 19 October without a visible publication time, so it cannot independently establish availability before this briefing’s 05:36:36 UTC cutoff. Its text also gives inconsistent second-quarter totals; those precise figures should not be treated as settled. The in-window basis for this story is Madar’s timestamped report. (fr.madar.mr)
