Burkina Faso’s legislature unanimously adopted a bill modernising publication of legislation, regulations and administrative decisions on October 19, 2026. All 71 participating lawmakers supported the text after the incorporation of 28 amendments, according to parliament. (an.bf)
Three days instead of eight
The bill reduces the ordinary period between publication in the official gazette and entry into force from eight days to three. It also provides for publication through information and communication technologies and electronic notification of individual administrative decisions. (an.bf)
For urgent measures, the revised framework provides for applicability upon publication and permits emergency publication through official government websites and pages. Parliament also identified circumstances in which a text need not be published in the official gazette, although its summary did not explain those conditions fully. (an.bf)
The reform updates a framework dating from 1975. Its practical application will depend on the adopted text and completion of the relevant legal formalities; the announcement should not be read as making every newly approved measure immediately enforceable. (an.bf)
