Assistance must reach host communities
Chad’s government said the influx of Sudanese refugees was imposing continuing pressure on local resources and urged an urgent increase in international assistance. Its appeal explicitly included both displaced people and the Chadian communities accommodating them. Anadolu’s October 22 report attributed the position to Chad’s foreign ministry. (aa.com.tr)
The appeal was presented at the sixth consultative meeting on coordinating Sudan peace initiatives, convened at the Palais des Nations by Switzerland and the office of the UN secretary-general’s personal envoy for Sudan. Chad’s delegation was led by its permanent representative in Geneva, Ahmad Makaila. (fr.apanews.net)
Political settlement and humanitarian access
Makaila urged the belligerents to pursue an inclusive, Sudanese-led negotiated settlement. He also called for protection of civilians, respect for international humanitarian law and safe, unrestricted humanitarian access. (fr.apanews.net)
Chad advocated closer coordination between the various international diplomatic initiatives rather than parallel, competing tracks. The reviewed reports describe an appeal and a diplomatic position—not a new ceasefire agreement, donor commitment or quantified increase in aid. (fr.apanews.net)
