A convoy of 596 fuel tankers reached Bamako at about 7 a.m. on 31 October after travelling overnight under Malian army escort, according to the Directorate-General of Trade and Competition, DGCC. Another 415 loaded tankers were already waiting in the capital’s parks.

The immediate benefit is additional stock for depots and filling stations. Customs, the DGCC and national police have taken over the handling and distribution process, with authorities saying teams are working around the clock to accelerate deliveries. The announcement gives truck numbers rather than fuel volumes or a station-by-station delivery schedule.

This is the fifth large convoy listed for October, following arrivals of 643, 957, 734 and 1,107 tankers. Those five arrivals total 4,037 vehicles, compared with the DGCC’s September figure of 3,796. The remaining practical task is to turn the fuel waiting in truck parks into deliveries to consumers and businesses.
