The Tillabéri branch of the National Union of Tricycle Taxis announced the planned stoppage in a notice dated 27 October and disclosed on 28 October. Drivers want restrictions imposed on 10 April and renewed on 13 October lifted after unsuccessful attempts at dialogue.
The restrictions cover areas around the Ayorou-road checkpoint, the airport, Tadress and its displacement sites, Inates social housing, and Mari and Tagantassou villages, among other locations. The union says the strike would halt motorcycle-taxi services across the commune, extending disruption beyond the restricted areas. It remains open to urgent talks before the stoppage.
