Agreement follows senior defence talks
Niger and Algeria signed the protocol following talks between Mody and Algerian armed forces chief Saïd Chanegriha. Reporting published on October 22 dated the signing to October 21. Algeria’s official news agency independently confirmed that the defence meeting took place on October 21 and involved a senior Nigerien military delegation. (beninwebtv.bj)
Chanegriha presented the visit as evidence of both governments’ intention to strengthen military coordination and address shared security challenges. Mody welcomed the existing level of cooperation between their armed forces, according to reporting of the Algerian defence ministry’s account. (seneweb.com)
No basis yet to infer deployments or arms transfers
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune also received Mody and his delegation on October 21, the Algerian presidency’s news service reported. (aps.dz)
The public reporting reviewed did not disclose commitments involving troop deployments, weapons deliveries, joint operations or intelligence-sharing procedures. The confirmed development is the signing of a cooperation framework; claims about its operational effects would be premature. (beninwebtv.bj)
