According to ActuNiger, armed men travelling in three four-wheel-drive vehicles intercepted the buses approximately 35 kilometres from Agadez on the Tchirozérine–Agadez section of the route connecting the regional capital with Arlit. Around ten passengers were injured. The outlet reported that victims included women, children, older people and soldiers. (actuniger.com)

Responsibility and motive remain unresolved
Witnesses cited by local reporting said soldiers aboard the buses returned fire. Reports also suggested that passengers included gold miners and that gold may have been stolen. Those accounts do not establish the attackers’ identity or motive; the alleged gold theft remains unconfirmed. Security sources said an investigation was under way. (actuniger.com)
