The National Union of Higher Education and Scientific Research, SNESUP, began a 120-hour strike on 26 October. General secretary Oumar Coulibaly said it would be renewed repeatedly unless the government addressed the allowance dispute.
At Bamako’s Faculty of Administrative and Political Sciences, lecture halls and offices were empty on 27 October. Students described interrupted exam preparation, wasted travel costs and degree delays that could affect eligibility for age-limited recruitment competitions. The union reported no negotiations with the authorities; no settlement or revised academic calendar was announced.
