The university branch of the national higher-education lecturers’ union began its 72-hour warning strike at 08:00 on 26 October, suspending lectures, tutorials and scientific activities. The decision followed an extraordinary union assembly on 24 October.
The union seeks overtime payments for 2023–24 and 2024–25, recruitment-committee allowances spanning three academic years, and examination-jury payments for 2025–26. It also demands regular electricity and affiliation with the Francophone University Agency. The union remained open to talks but threatened broader industrial action if its demands were not met; no settlement was announced in the account available before cutoff.
