The penal code promulgated on 13 December 2024 expressly includes sexual acts between people of the same sex within its provisions on indecent assault. It separately penalises public or private material that approves, encourages, promotes or facilitates the acts covered by those provisions, extending legal exposure beyond the participants themselves.
The judgment’s date is inconsistent across accounts: RFI gives 26 October, whereas Le Soft gives “Monday 26 September”—a calendar mismatch, since 26 September 2026 was a Saturday. The sentence itself is consistently described as one year, with six months to serve.
