The doctors say they completed applications on the designated platform and appeared on lists directing successful candidates to Algeria. They subsequently learned that registration was no longer possible, despite approaching the higher-education ministry and Mauritania’s embassy in Algiers.
The placements formed part of an allocation of 144 training places in Algeria announced in August. Documents reviewed by Sahara Medias showed a list of 41 doctors transmitted on 17 September and a supplementary list of 23 on 1 October. Those figures describe submitted lists, not the number ultimately excluded, which remains unspecified.
The complainants also say a requirement for written health-ministry permission complicated applications by doctors employed as civil servants. They are seeking reasons for the exclusions and disclosure of the selection criteria. No official explanation had been issued in the account available before cutoff.
